"after all is said and done..."
The very spicy and cool magnetism of "Kiss the Ring", the latest follow up to Richard Tripps' eponymous 2023 album, from the onset lures you into it's sonic world. The propulsion created by crunchy indie rock guitar over punchy bass and feverish drums, glued together by a sort of vintage 60's synth that strikes an amazing resemblance to a Combo Compact Farfisa organ feels at once dreamy and off kilter in a wonderful way. As a sort of timeless, cross-generational sea side carnival-esque musical framework for Tripps' vocal aesthetic (that feels somehow aloof but warmly embracive at the same time) this track feels like an amalgam of heartland rock and power pop punk. A leather jacket with busted up cowboy boots.
["Kiss the Ring" was recorded at the Unknown Recording Studio in Anacortes Washington with Brian Noyes and Jake Brady of Tomten. It was recorded during the sessions of his debut record 'Richard Tripps' and released through Perpetual Doom November 23rd.]
