"digital delay / digital decay's got me frayed / you know I hide inside / clean my eyes with sanitary wipes..."
The stripped back folk indie country twangs of "Another Restless Life" by Pennsylvania bred, Austin-Texas based DIY folk singer Andrew Savage feels damn good, feels real. It is hard sometimes to tell what is real these days but this aesthetic feels drawn from compelling periods in the past, like live performances at real familiar venues, like 90's College Radio that inspired legions of artists and listeners. Now, I can only feel what I am feeling and do not know what seeds of inspiration Savage dips into but somehow, here, I sense an amalgam of artists like Marcy Playground, Counting Crows, R.E.M. and Violent Femmes.
"Another Restless Life" feels drawn with pencil and embellished with charcoal strokes outside current lines but fitting comfortably within lines from times past eschewing the current tropes and feeling nostalgic in the best possible way.
