"Doesn’t make a difference / doesn’t make a change / until you realise you’ll never be the same / Does it manifest no matter where you are / when watching all the stupid people fall in love?"
The progressive post punk pummeling of "Many Thanks" by London based Supermilk, and from their third studio album "High Precision Ghosts" out now on Specialist Subject Records, is such an exuberant jam-fest of a song it literally injects sonic adrenaline in your veins. Not only are the musical constructions so exquisitely fun and compelling bursting out angular stabs of sound, sonically the production is perfectly balanced. The feverish bass lines feel texturally thick, the bounce on those tom toms feel perfectly live, the dense guitar sounds feels like each chord has been cloned three times without feeling like they were cloned three times and the vox also feel wonderfully live. Vocals these days are often veiled with lovely distortions that while cool make them feel flat but there is none of that here, bassist Jake Popyura's vocal countenance feels potent, full bodied and like he is a 3 feet from you in the front row.
LINER NOTES (just for you bracketed)
[HIGH PRECISION GHOSTS is the band’s first record since the announcement of Popyura’s ALS diagnosis in January this year. Remarking on his experience with the rare and fatal motor neuron disease, he assures that SUPERMILK will continue: “[I'm] determined to crack on and not take anything for granted… we have shows lined up and you bet your able-bodied ass we'll be ploughing ahead with those plans, even if I have to sit down for all of it.”]
[Gearing up to unveil their sixth release in just four short years, North London based indie-punks SUPERMILK have never been a band to sit on their hands. Instead, they have garnered a reputation within the UK’s thriving DIY music scene for their prolific output, tight live shows, and uncompromising mix of angular post-punk and fuzzy 90s-indebted indie rock. It’s this trademark sound which is more realised than ever on the group’s latest full-length effort HIGH PRECISION GHOSTS, produced by Me Rex's Rich Mandell and releasing this Summer via Bristol’s Specialist Subject Records.]

Supermilk is an indie rock band from London, England. Originally the solo recording project of former Doe drummer/vocalist Jake Popyura, Supermilk has been releasing music since 2017 with a full band incarnation active since 2022. The project's debut LP Death Is the Best Thing for You Now was released in March 2020, following the EPs Hello? Yes This Is Supermilk... and Rare Delusions.

The album was placed at number 2 in Good Morning America's 50 Best Albums of 2021.
Supermilk finally began performing live in 2022, with Sophie MacKenzie of Cheerbleederz, Em Foster of Nervus and Jay Cavalier of Personal Best completing the lineup. Their first material as a full band - the double single Jessica's Army / Ribcage - was released on May 23rd 2023.
