"I’ve got a lot of problems, still / drinking a cold glass of water, chillin / everyone’s askin how I’m dealing..."
The swirling angst and artful turmoil of "Toilet Water" by Olympia/Portland group Oh, Rose, might make your heartbeat faster and your stomach curdle, especially if you are an empath of sorts. Still, the experience of the song feeds. The throttling indie rock sound, singer's Olivia Rose's vocal countenance, two parts frenetic beauty, one part exasperation, one part exalted survivorship somehow hugs you, commiserates with anyone who is going through something exhausting. The song wonderfully realized with sparse piano, country-fied guitar embellishments and sort of garden rock bluster feels filmic, makes you see a grainy indie movie in your head.
"Toilet Water" with the Official Video supports the release of Oh, Rose's third full length album "Dorothy" that dropped on September 5th on Antiquated Future.
LINER NOTES:
The band's first album in five years, it's named after Olivia Rose's grandmother, an expert quilter. Rose says she sees the album as its own quilt—both sonically and in terms of the slow and methodical process of making the album. "I always said this album was going to be a love album," she says, "and this record feels emblematic of the love I shared with her."
"Toilet Water" is easy to get lost in. Depending on how raw your own wounds are, the song may hit you differently but I guarantee it will make you feel something.

The Olympia, WA based Oh, Rose has solidified their place in the PNW music scene through powerful, upbeat performances showcasing the emotive and unfiltered voice of front-woman Olivia Rose. Their catalog is both intimate and explosive; since forming in 2014, the band has released two albums and an EP, amassing a catalog that ranges from soft, synth-tinted love songs to full-on, painfully screamed ballads.
In 2024, the band celebrates 10 years with their reissue of their first EP, That Do Now See, alongside their new album “Dorothy,” which is set to release September 5th via Antiquated Future.
