"I want to die in your arms, oh baby / And I get so lost in your eyes, I go crazy..."
The rhapsodic bohemian folk rock penetrations of "Sorry Situation Number Four", by the omnipresent Los Angeles indie rock duo Freedom Fry, is so exquisitely inviting, a multi-colored pretty pastiche of 60's sophisticated psych pop dressed up in corduroy and floral prints. The forever prolific music machine of Freedom Fry aka French/American married duo Marie & Bruce never craft bad songs and, in fact, you have probably heard their songs without realizing it because their music has adorned over 100 films, episodic shows and advertisements like M3GAN, ABC (American Idol, Grey’s Anatomy), Apple TV+ (The Morning Show), Netflix (Atypical, Love), Showtime (Shameless) and more.
"Sorry Situation Number Four" with its dominant bass lines, sparkly jangle popisms, counter-positioned indie rock musicality, vibrotic (vocoder-esque) chorus, phazey other instrumentations and absolutely adorable tambourine slaps is all pitch perfectly produced, as slick as a ducks back while still feeling embracing. I think you will dig it (dig being the appropriate word) and it might even have you digging into old crates to find you Donovan and Beatles records.
