"I have a new girlfriend / she gave me eyes across the room..."
The wonky rock fusions, dipped in emblematic abstractions, of "Shoulder Tattoo" feels extraordinary in it's density of sound, it's it musical characterizations, in it's ability to time transport. Suffice it to say, what Indianapolis alt-rock quartet, Bonnie Lola, puts down here is not easy to describe and the artfully audacious rock fusion feel had me thinking of so many iconic artists and, for whatever reason, the mid-80's. The musicality alone, inspired and wonderfully jammy screams a certain amount of musical agnosticism going on, a genre blend so heavy / light, so rock jazz / art rock, so rock fusion / proto punk, so power pop / new wave as to have me seeing a diverse array of artists from Vulpeck, to Sainte Blonde, to Toto, to Roxy Music, to Steely Dan, to The Tubes, and even Tommy Tutone (don't give me those side eyes - TT was a lot more than '867-5309/Jenny').
The snaking bass lines, alone, is worth the price of admission but the total package is just so stuffed full of surprises that feel as fresh as they do nostalgic. Explosive, funky, angular, hook filled with a sense of adventure and musically ambitious. I dig this "Shoulder Tattoo".

Alternative rock band from the midwest US. Our music draws inspiration from multiple sources, like The Cure, Nirvana and even The Cars, though we've been compared musically to people like Foals or Cage The Elephant. Stylistically we hard rock riffs with funk delivery and new wave instrumentation. We're really not interested in fitting into one genre specifically, but blend multiple types to create something new and energizing.
