Fred Paa Jord is Norwegian and translates to “Peace on Earth”
The multi-dosed, cultural curated surfy funk tribal tropicalia of "Rhodos 86" by Bergen, Norway's four piece alt fusion band Fred Paa Jord, feels so incredibly vibrant and jammy to feel like a new form of sophisticated punk, feral yet precise, precise yet inspired. I mean, as I listen on repeat I cannot help but think of an amalgam of surf punk meets a mix of Afrobeats and Portuguese Fado. The West African rhythms filtered through degrees of jam band, of dance punk, East Coast funk punk etc also has me flashing on Talking Heads collaborative / spiritual mind melds with Fela Kuti.
