The swirling other worldly post punk runaway power of "Chimera", by Brisbane, Australia's Ancient Channels, and from the band’s upcoming 2026 sophomore album "Static Spirit", sweeps you up in it's propulsive dreaminess. Tightly wound up, musically diverse with an evocative 90's post punk meets 80's new wave aesthetic, it also has pop prowess and progressive moves in spades. In other words, it is going to appeal to a wide array of tastes and I love that it (to me), in terms of the psych rock (and gothic rock) elements, pulls from the late 70's onward and if you like your post punk danceable, this is it. The atmosphere the song creates is cinematic, I think especially for a film that might deal in vast mysteries or horror or all things flavored punk or witchy.
