The ever so dreamy post memoric wash of "F A C E L E S S" by Long Beach, California's Beachdust pushes particular buttons that feel personal for me and obviously others. Adjacent to bands The Drums, Beach Fossils, Craft Spells, Surf Curse and other bands that sonically meld aspects of dream pop, surf punk, indie rock, synth pop and vast iterations of post punk. To me, the shards of nostalgia, melancholy, angst and hopeful glances cut that deep part of you that has to do with youth and how our youthful lives, in particular can get away from us if we allow it to, just like friends that leave our circles or like long lost music venues that are literally torn down, disappear like memories that turn into mist over times when other things replace them.

I am enjoying the surfy beats (machine or otherwise), the broad sweeps of lo-fi and more vast synth sounds, the thumping bass push, the cross layering of sounds and the vibrant staccato electric guitar lines that veer into tropical punk places as a framework for the cool, introspective and shouty vocals.
Cool. Truly cool.
