"It's funny how life works out / when you thought that you had nowhere left to be / you learned to steady your line / you learned to concentrate / you let the ones that love you most put your life back into..."
The unbridled raw indie emo punch and loving circles of "When it falls back into place", by Ocean Grove, Australia's indie rock outfit Here if you need, is beautifully drawn soaked in angst, struggle, surviving. The proggy kind of surfy punk guitars, the stomping beat, the angular chords, rolling bass and a vocal performance that runs the gamut between emo / indie rock / post punk ( to me). I mean the vocalist's vibe full of emotional wails (and yelps) I somehow thought of vibes between Perry Farrell (Jane's Addiction ), Buddy Nielsen (Senses Fail) and Gareth David (Los Campesinos!) or maybe an amalgam of all of them. This attitudinal / artistically driven aesthetic (however I am hearing it or digesting it) that I am feeling is very different and cool.
I also love the drama inherent in the musical strikes, the quiet / loud bits and the absolutely dense lyrical narrative that is told with so much passion.
LYRICS
life works out
when you thought that you had nowhere left to be
you learned to steady your line
you learned to concentrate
you let the ones that love you most put your life back into
I know that it's not the way that it should be
I know that it's not the way that it should be
somehow it fits just the way that it is
I know that it's not the way that it should be
somehow it fits just the way that it is
when you search you find your way home
when you search you find your way home
Now that your alright
Now that your alright
now you can celebrate
watch as the grey sky's from your life disappear and exterminate
you learnt to steady your line
your learned to concentrate
you let the ones that love put you life back into
I know that it's not the way that it should be
somehow it fits just the way that it is
I know that it's not the way that it should be
somehow it fits just the way that it is
when you search you find your way home
when you search you find your way home
when it falls and goes back into place
when it falls and goes back into place
then you'll grow and your path will be changed with this love
and you'll fall and go back into place and you'll grow and your path with be changed
I know that it's not the way that it should be
somehow it fits just the way that it is
I know that it's not the way that it should be
somehow it fits just the way that it is
when you search you find your way home
when you search you find your way home
when you search you find your way home
when your search you find your way home
"When it falls back into place" feels anthemic and powerful, the power that comes from the pain and joy of youth. I have a lot more thoughts about this song but they are difficult to put into words so rather than prattle on, just listen to this track (on repeat).
Enjoy.
