BODEGA and the jammy, jangly, bookish indie rock foreshadowing of "Literary World" (Official Video)

The jammy, jangly, bookish indie rock foreshadowing of "Literary World" by NYC's cultural commentators BODEGA, might make you want to dance or might make you want to hang with friends at your local book store / coffee hang (Stories Books & Cafe in Echo Park come to mind). Sonically, this time, the Brooklyn indie rock / art punk quintet lead by real life songwriting couple Ben Hozie (vocals, guitar) and Nikki Belfiglio (vocals, percussion), might be mining 80's new wave or mid aughts retro / revival indie rock, at least that is what I am feeling. The sophisti pop / indie rock leans have me thinking of a collision of 80's icons like The Plimsouls and Elvis Costello and the Attractions (you can't leave out the Attractions). That being said BODEGA keep it artistically fluid and in past reviews I mentioned "Shame spiraling all the way down to the late 70's / 80's Human Sexual Response (as well as iconic indie bands like Slow Children and XTC)". 

When it comes down to it, BODEGA's blend of subversion and playfulness, weighted either way, their cultivated sound always seems to be in a brightly colored package of tightly wound sonics and hooky, bouncy vocal melodies. What is there not to love? "Literary World" accompanied with a great Official Video is from the band's fourth upcoming studio album "All Inside Aquarium" (Releasing October 9, 2026).
