AP Track Review
Dirty Birdy by Split The Dealer (UK) is cagey, beat driven piece of indie rock with grunge bones and hip hop postures. It all sounds thick and pretty delicious due to the self assured, vocal performance of Sam Brett pushing out falsettos to gritty wails riding on bouncy melodies. Brett has got the pipes to sound pop rock and rock, grungey or not. The production is self assured too with cool chill angular sounds and full out garage, grunge rock on the upswing.
Sweet.

FROM THE ARTIST:
Dirty Birdy is written from a personal experience, from seeing friends who have become completely addicted to a substance, but also sitting firmly in denial about it.
We all try things throughout life, but this song takes you on a journey from the first time, to becoming dependant.
I wrote the versus to sit fairly open, with lots of space, keeping the pace fairly chilled, but then bringing in the chorus with gritty, crunchy electric to give you the feeling of the addiction kicking in.
