AP Track Review
The Empty Beings are a post punk outfit out of Pittsburgh and when you listen to their single Growing Boys you will feel the punk (more than the post) with elements of cow punk (rockabilly punk) and big waves of surf punk. The blistering staccato guitar work made me think of a mash up of classic Dick Dale and punk chops of Billy Zoom (X) and the bass and drums follow suit like surf rock on high but the sonic edge that pushes the song into a sort of dark art house black leather sonic version of John Waters meets Jack Arnold meets Andy Warhol youth rebellion cult movie is Shani Banerjee's vocal snarl that is both clenched fisted and brazenly sexual. The Empty Beings are rounded out by Nick Leombruno, Dave Rosenstraus and Adam Thomas and the official video feels like a midnight movie sort of like the aforementioned Waters/ Arnold / Warhol style of the song. Perfect. Turn it up.
Growing Boys is from Empty Beings' first full length vinyl "Dead and Pathetic"on Play Alone Records. FYI- Listen to the Bandcamp file before you view the official video- as it sounds more potent.

THE FACTS AS WE KNOW THEM - PRESS NOTES:
Empty Beings is a 4 piece post-punk band from Pittsburgh that takes heavy influence from elements of American hardcore, deathrock, new wave, and cowpunk to create a melodic yet driving fabric of sound. With two tapes under their belt, rushing it is not the intention of this band. Releasing on local Play Alone Records, Empty Beings looks to tour in the fall of 2018 with their first full-length vinyl, “Dead and Pathetic” as well as debut their first video for the song “Growing Boys.” With an always energetic live show, which is at times confrontational, they want nothing more than to continue to bring honesty to their performances and have fun while challenging themselves and their audiences. Empty Beings is Nick Leombruno, Dave Rosenstraus, Adam Thomas, and Shani Banerjee. Catch their LP record release October 12th at Babyland with The Gotobeds.
