AP Track Review
When you listen to Sand by Donzii, an art performance / rock outfit out of Miami, Florida, you think of the creatively fertile period of proto-punk, new wave late 70's / 80's acts like Siouxsie and the Banshees or Human Sexual Response. Jenna Balfe's vocal performance has that sort of neo other worldly vocal accent like she is trying to hypnotize you with her inflections. It feels wide eyed and Bauhaus. Equally the basslines by Dennis Fuller feels Cure-esque, thick and dark. The big drums by Monroe Getz is cuts like a Mohawk punk hair cut. The keys by Miles Hancock have a tinge of spooky and the guitar work by Danny Heinz is pearly and dark. The result feels like goth rock to me with New Wave spins. Put on your tank tops tucked into your peg leg pants and Docs and pogo the hell out.

THE FACTS AS WE KNOW THEM - PRESS NOTES:
From the humid, subtropical strangeness of Miami, crossed with the jagged quickness of New York City, Donzii emerged. Combining performance art with a pension for drum machines and bass driven songs, Donzii and Jenna Balfe create an invigorating voice. Donzii began as a collaboration for an art show. They became quickly known for their performance art narrative and skilled musicianship which amassed a cult following in Miami. Their sound, replete with mythical utopian guitars, can be compared to No Wave and Post Punk, yet they do align themselves with any one genre. Currently Donzii is Jenna Balfe on vocals, Dennis Fuller on bass, Danny Heinz on guitar, Miles Hancock on keys & Monroe Getz on drums.
