"lust and existential dread"
The Lebowski are a three piece post punk / alternative rock band from South Africa and the track Heavy Glow (great title) is everything a post punk song from a three piece punk band should be. It is bass heavy, drum heavy, guitar heavy and constructed in twisted, jagged ways. The grunge density of the guitar rhythms is incredibly big, as is the bass that when coupled with the double time drums is just so radically jammy. It has this kind of jammy-ness that (dare I say) reminds me of a punk version of The JAM as in Paul Weller and the boys but then the divergence of the prog changes and potent, fucking awesome lead lines has a more feral punk sound. I love the vocals here too moving from a kind of low almost proto punk alien-esque tone to cool falsettos.
You made my Sunday night boys. I thank you for that.

Heavy Glow is a snapshot of a drunken movie night, filled with lust and existential dread.
THE FACTS AS WE KNOW THEM - PRESS NOTES:
The Lebowski is a three-piece post-punk band from Pretoria, South Africa. Musically the band is always fluctuating between melodic, upbeat riffs and verses and powerful, angsty choruses.
