"try it in the sun or in the car or in the dark"
American Pancake maybe be different than some music blogs. We don't care if a submission sent to us is connected with an established band or artist, in fact, some times we know virtually nothing about the artist who sends us a song. We are most interested in the song. In our view, the song is everything really. If it happens to be the only song this artist ever creates or only song of merit (in our humble opinion) then that is fine. Some people never ever are able to create art and some people never can even conceive of creating art and some people create art every single day or week but they don't even realize it.
Anyway, let's get to the track Wolves by e4444e who, by the way, is a solo artist out of Newcastle, Australia who has created a lot of musical art since 2015 (click here). Wolves caught my ear right away, I like the loose lower almost acoustic string buzz and then the sort of downbeat melody (and cadence). The sound feels very organic and I like the double time bounce of the song. It made me think of forward thinking art pop / art rock. I thought for whatever reason of the Brit band XTC even though Wolves has a decidedly kind of alt folk undercurrent. The layered production is cool, smart and interesting. It is just packed full of imagery, extreme motion and dreams. It ends in a kind of tactile organic way but shifts into surreal places with looped vocals. Awesome.

THE FACTS AS WE KNOW THEM - PRESS NOTES:
wolves is a little song that hints describing a lot of things and their motion in the world, trying to connect streams to things. the song is short and little in its scope, like a fox or a simple sage. the truths are kind of dry and airy and the sounds float around them. doesn't go very far, doesn't try to either.
