"that comes later"
Brooklyn based singer songwriter Carli Naff from Carli & the Dark says that the song Mimi is "about projecting self-doubt onto the people who love you, and about the love and magic that live underneath this compulsive over-thinking." and while that emotional "puzzle making" is so real and easy to relate to, I might not of guessed that was the inspiration or meaning of the song by the floating dreaminess it contains and Naff's exquisitely pretty vocal lilt that disarms you right away. Just the sound of her voice along with the lovely, light production carries you away before you are even able to absorb the meaning and poetry contained in the lyrics. That comes later.
Carli & the Dark are Carli Naff (vocals, guitar), Tom Criblez (drums), Jack McLoughlin (guitar) and Dan Criblez (bass).
