"Aussie's fearless vocals"
As I was anticipating the next HBO episode of The Outsider and lamenting two pivotal American character's roles going to Aussie and English actors, I sit in awe listening to another Aussie artist killing it... being so exquisite at what she does. I am speaking of 22 year old singer-songwriter GRAACE who brings her beautiful voice to her latest track Hard To Say. But before we delve into this wondrous track that features I.E., let me say that I was kidding earlier and, in fact, I absolutely adore Ben Mendelsohn (always have) as well as the amazing Cynthia Erivo in their respective The Outsider roles as Ralph Anderson and Holly Gibney. Now back to GRAACE.
Hard To Say featuring I.E. is an electronic pop track with neo soul reflections. I love the belly Fender Key-esque sounds that start off the track. They frame a comfortable, memorable prog throughout. GRAACE's vox are incredibly tender and dynamic, malleable to a fault from falsettos to trembling deeper tones. She carries her emotions in each syllable she utters. The swanky beat and her own cool backing vox support the track. The male counterpart I.E. is used sparingly but to such great effect. His register and bounce is a perfect counter poise for hers. The "dah dah daaah dah dah" that wraps around the ear candy chorus is ear wormy x 10.

THE FACTS AS WE KNOW THEM - PRESS NOTES:
The insanely talented GRAACE brings her new dynamic single, "Hard To Say," ft. I.E., to the table. Drawing from electronic and R&B elements, this new single veers from GRAACE's indie-pop sound for a contemporary and vibey, sad-girl track.
We've completely fallen for this Aussie's fearless vocals and deeply personal tracks, and we're not the only ones. We've seen praise for this 22-year-old everywhere from The Fader and Clash to Triple J and Spotify's New Music Friday.
"Hard To Say" reads like a diary out loud or a vent session to your closest friends. GRAACE has got a knack for delivering honest and raw emotions and coupling it with an unforgettable melody. "Hard To Say" is a stunning mix of genres - in the same vein as breakout artists King Princess and Sasha Sloan. "La da da da" may be stuck in your head for the next few days but it's certainly worth it.
In the stunning visual component, watch GRAACE and I.E. maneuver the hazy, glitchy, complex world. Still moments are captured among the chaos as their world crashes around them. On the track GRAACE reveals, "I lost someone very close to my heart over a year ago now, and it's something that I don't talk about often but as soon as Xavier started playing these chords I felt like it was finally time to sing about him and bring light to the topic of mental health. It's a beautiful thing to be able to sing your thoughts when you can't fully articulate it in a normal conversation, because it's so hard to grasp your feelings sometimes when life is crazy. I hope people who listen can know that they're not alone and can see that everybody has somebody who has their back, whether it's someone they're close to or a stranger, like me."
"This infectious song has us hooked from beginning to end." - Ladygunn
"a pop ballad for your guilty conscience." - The FADER
"Honest and intimate like a spoken diary entry" - The Line of Best Fit
"The Australian riser is brutally honest with herself, a songwriter whose potent melodic approach lingers with remarkable, self-effacing lyricism." - Clash
GRAACE has a magical way of taking her brash honesty and turning it into heartbreaking tunes. The 22-year-old songstress relays her very real experiences from heartbreak to heart-breaker so gracefully. GRAACE began gaining traction when the single "Numb," a track she co-wrote and performed on with Hayden James, hit platinum.
She's since released her strikingly honest and raw SELF SABOTAGE EP (2018) which features hit single "Last Night," which has over 16M streams on Spotify alone. You may have also fallen in love with her dance-inducing singles, "21st Century Love" and "Go Have Fun At Your Party" that released earlier this year!
