"old flames and flings"
Philadelphia and Brooklyn based indie folk duo Sea Offs aka Olivia Price and Rashmit Arora crafts especially perfectly moving songs about all the imperfections within love and relationships. I mean, I can't say that all their songs are about love in all it's manifestations: new, old, broken, growing but the songs I have been blessed to hear (of theirs) all have been about such matters. The messy stuff generated when two minds and hearts and bodies intertwine. The song For Familiarity's Sake is such a song and it's simple beauty, poised on acoustic lines and Olivia Prices' telling vocal performance talks about running around in circles and interestingly (in construction) it feels like a circular song of sorts. The chorus soars on cool percussion, drums, a very sweet yet heavy bass (for a folk song) and Rashmit Arora's backing vox. It is a heavenly lush song at times and at other times more simple and bare. It deals with "the comfortable feelings brought on by old flames and flings" as Price says, "Sometimes it's hard to let go" and as the song says "And you're not looking for love in the right place / And it can't be found in an expected space so you look to your past for familiarity's sake."
For Familiarity's Sake is from the "En Root" EP.

THE FACTS AS WE KNOW THEM - PRESS NOTES:
Sea Offs serves as the meeting ground for songwriters Olivia Price and Rashmit Arora. The duo met while attending Penn State University, bonding over a love of dreamy folk-rock music and a shared socio-political belief system. In February 2016, they released a 3-song, DIY-style EP titled “Sea the Blind,” which was internationally lauded by numerous blogs and Youtube communities for its sweeping vocals, full sound, and sincere lyrics. Since the summer, their song, “Leave”, has received over 150,000 plays via Mostly Strings on YouTube and over 20,000 plays via other online streams.
A full year later, Sea Offs is releasing another self-recorded/produced full length album, featuring a fuller, dynamic soundscape and honest, emotional lyrics. In support of the album, entitled “What’s the Point?,” the now-full-band will be releasing a single in early March 2017.
