"Nordic indie-folk"
Simen Mitlid is an indie folk singer-songwriter based out of Oslo, Norway. He crafts his lush folk songs in his own studio he calls "Grønland" housed in a building that also happens to house a church as well. Sometimes Mitlid adds ambiance in his songs, birds and nature, this time he added a different kind of nature, the sounds of religious ceremonies and you can hear them in his latest single Weeks from his upcoming album "Birds". Weeks also features the Norwegian indie band Tuvaband. An upcoming B-side featuring Benedikt is in the works as well.
When Simen Mitlid's voice drops in over sprite acoustic rhythms it is like your heart glows a bit brighter. At least that is my reaction. There is something undefinable but absolutely tangible about his voice that casts an emotion embrace that you feel, feel physically. I think it is the lilt in his voice that has a kind of innate tenderness and compassion. The optimist in me wants to believe this comes from him deeply and I believe it but even, even if he is the best actor in the whole world I will take his warm embrace every single time.
Weeks, Mitlid says, "is an indie ballad about god, and the act of not believing in anything".
