"to go just a little bit farther"
It is an odd equation, the reason why one person likes this piece of art or that, this music or that music. I suppose it is like when you meet someone. Sometimes there is an instant connection and while I don't believe in love at first sight, I do believe in crush at first sight. Then there is the person you meet and they might seem a bit reclusive but interesting and maybe you find them
intriguing because there is something a bit askew about them. Maybe that was my first impression of Pattern Addict, an alternative rock band with folk tendencies from Burlington, Vermont. The song I'll See Ya When I See Ya pulled at me right away with the sad guitar and sparse piano but even more so (and in a bigger way) when Liam's vocal aesthetic poured out. I like the sound of his voice, the way he pronounces his words, the sadness of it and how he cuts to the quick of his emotions. Later, electric guitars swoon over a washed out ascension of it all.
I'll See Ya When I See Ya is from their new album "Someday, Some Afternoon".
