"Baby can you hear the sound of the doom prophets in your head"
Death Hags aka Lola G. on her hazy psych-pop OFF/ON (Don't Give In To Fear), that is featured on volume 6 of Burger Records' Quarantunes (Songs from Self-Isolation), is lush in it's lo-fi aesthetic with droning distorted guitars and Lola's pure vocal aesthetic over a pulsating machine beat. The counter-position of distortion washed sock hop punk tones against the pristine vocal harmonies works in a sweet and savory way. The different textures accentuate each other. There is also something just so heavenly about Death Hags melodies, the lift you up but kind of make you sad all at the same time and within the sad uplifting sounds she reminds us that the most virulent disease that needs to be vanquished is fear.
