"don't be late boy, you better turn and run"
Everafter from UK alternative folk outfit Broken Bones Matilda is a moody garden rock passion play with dramatic undertones and church like heavenly ascensions with layers of evocative female vox (enhanced with male harmonies) amid the deeply tender and pretty folk orchestrations. The sound is at once like a stunning late 70's folk / pop ballad but in actuality it sounds timeless in it's forward movement like a sadly drawn wedding march.
The band reveals that Everafter is a teenage romance song. "Narrating young love and the feelings of insecurity and shyness you have when you like someone but don’t have the courage to ask them out, the song reminds us of those distant high school memories and the voices inside that shout, 'Hurry up or you’re gonna be too late!'”
