"somethings always pullin at my mind, but"
Zen Tho is a song that sounds so unbelievably vibey, art rock funky, neosoul-esque, progressively stitched and sewn together in cosmic ways. The artist behind this truly engaging piece of art is Dane, the musical project of Dane Orr, artist, songwriter, producer, and engineer based out of Brooklyn by way of Schenectady, New York. Orr assembled a creative musical outfit to realize his vision with the amazing talents of Buz on drums (L'Rain, Solange, Standing on the Corner) and Evan Lawrence on bass (of Jelani Sei).
Zen Tho rides on a delicious bass line and ever shifting drums with fills that seem to elevate the song into other realms provided by ambient synth sounds and Orr's psychedelic lyrical affirmations sometimes embraced by cloned and pitches vocals. It is all so dreamy and smile inducing. It feels improvisational in texture, free form and absolutely raw in imagination and dominant radical breakdowns. Lovely stuff.
