"chambers of your beating heart"
Brimheim who hails from Denmark/Faroe Islands but and is currently based in Copenhagen is visually and aurally an artful abstraction. I don't quite know what to make of her yet but then I don't have to. There is no need to know what makes her tick or what informs her sound really, not yet anyway (maybe I can get to those places later in an interview), no, I just have to enjoy her beautifully askew art and I do.
Take her latest, Four Chambers with the big stomping rushed beat and wash of 90's Goth pop / post punk instrumentation. Brimheim's vocal aesthetic, a combination of low hushed utterances and higher register beautiful wails have their own gravitational pull (the way she modulates between those two aesthetics is brilliant) apart from the sounds that flood around them. Those sounds are formidable in their edgy power and dark romantic velvet curtains. I could not help think of the Cure a bit and Siouxsie And The Banshees or a melding of the two.
[“Four Chambers” is about being in a toxic relationship that you are slowly starting to realize is as sickly as an addiction.]

Crafting lyricism with candid veracity, Brimheim’s brand of lofi indie rock provides the unexpected yet catchy. Imagine the illegitimate love child of Florence Welsh and PJ Harvey — a goth teen who listens to Radiohead and reads Murakami.
