"Well I've seen the stars and they look like us"
On the live performance video of alternative artist KennyHoopla's provocative dust// from his debut EP "how will I rest in peace if I'm buried by a highway?//", the Wisconsin based Hoopla (aka Kenneth La’ron) stares off past the walls of what looks like a small basement as he croons darkly to his divergent beautifully caustic backing tracks. His pained poetry always seems to hit you squarely in the gut,
"Have you ever got a hug but you felt no touch?
Have you ever tried to love but it hurt you more?
Have you ever fucked but you couldn't come?
Playing hide and seek looking for yourself
Have you ever had the right answer to the wrong question?
Have you ever raised your hand in an art lesson?"
As flits of static, dream pop synths, booming sounds like thunderclaps and pretty bass lines fill the spaces, it is Hoopla's questions with a vocal aesthetic and melodic visage feeling like experimental anti pop with proto punk reflections that sticks the most. The result is mesmerizing and the sad chorus will stay in your head for days.
"Well I've seen the stars and they look like us
I run into the rocks I'm turning to dust
Turning to dust, turning to dust, turning to dust
Turning to dust, turning to dust"
Turning to dust, turning to dust, turning to dust
Turning to dust, turning to dust"
KennyHoopla is set to support Yungblud on select UK dates next spring. He will join You Me At Six on tour next year as well, and is a confirmed performer for next year’s Riot Fest in Chicago.

THE FACTS AS WE KNOW THEM - PRESS NOTES:
Alternative artist KennyHoopla took his wavy, genre-agnostic indie sound from motel room recordings to packed out shows in 2019 with breakout single “Lost Cause//“and a go-for-it, all-or-nothing mentality. The Cleveland-born, Wisconsin-based performer, Kenneth La’ron aka KennyHoopla (inspired by a scene in Spongebob, no less), started making music just three years ago in a rare collision of artistic synergy. “I used to breakdance, I used to paint, I used to do photography. I thought if I could conquer every art medium, I’d get closer to it,” says Kenny. “Something in me kept telling me it was time to make music.” Born in Cleveland, he grew up absorbing a diverse variety of music, art and breakdancing; The Drums, Funeral Suits, Common and Teen Suicide are credited as some of his greatest influences. His music is intimate, thoughtful and self-labeled as “new wave nostalgia.” KennyHoopla has performed alongside Injury Reserve, Jack Harlow, Omar Apollo, Trapo, Yung Gravy, Alex Wiley, Beabadobee, Yoshi Flower and Gabriel Black.
