Luke Ellingson's indie rock duet with Daniprobably entitled "Prepared to be Bored" packs a lot of wallop within it's three minute and 2 second framework. The song moves on electric picking that dips into bending half step dissonance and potent layers of post punkery filtered through power pop down and up beats. Luke Ellingson is the musical moniker of singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist Noah Silvestry (Vern Matz) and his inclusion of Daniprobably elevates this already potent indie rocker. Her vocal aesthetic that contains a broken beauty, along with Silvestry's croon works apart and sounds so good wrapped within his. "Prepared to be Bored" sounds best when it gets messy, when the lead guitar screams around the curious lyrics.
The track is part of an exciting collection curated by Funnybone Records and available exclusively as part of the label's "Room for You" compilation, which features 24 tracks from artists on and outside the roster (including Lady Lamb and Mal Devisa), and is seeking to raise $5,000 for the National Queer and Trans Therapists of Color Network, the Loveland Foundation’s Therapy Fund for Black Women and Girls, and for Kamora’s Cultural Corner in Hartford, CT.

Luke Ellingson is the alias of 23-year-old songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Noah Silvestry. Following his departure from Vern Matz, with whom he cut his teeth playing drums on two EPs, the Philadelphia-born New Haven resident finds his voice on his 2020 debut LP, Like Wires Humming. Drawing on a lifetime of musical fandom and experience, Silvestry, an architectural designer by day, sings about the challenges of reorienting towards oneself amid relationships gone awry, his visceral, heartfelt voice set against an expansive and diverse array of musical backdrops, from snarling guitars reminiscent of the late ‘90s alt-country scene to the placid catharsis of post-rock anthems. Joined by Max Kulicke (Carroll, American Trappist) on lead guitar, and his cousin, Max Mines (Language Please, Megafauna) on bass, Silvestry and company present a confident musical vision wrought with emotion. Like Wires Humming also sees Silvestry find an identity as a producer, in which role he has cultivated a growing body of work, breathing life into records for bands such as Sargasso, Sofra, Lanuage Please, and Window Seat. Like Wires Humming was mastered by Ryan Schwabe, and will be released on June 26, 2020 via Funnybone Records.
An annex of last year’s "House Sounds" compilation, this year’s "Room for You" features 24 tracks by artists on and outside of the Funnybone roster. We're humbled to feature the debut of new projects, rare collaborations, unearthed gems, current releases, top-of-your-lungs anthems... and then some.
This project is an outcome to Funnybone's ongoing objective of creating spaces for artists to share their headroom in times of isolation and vulnerability, empowerment and pursuit of change. Spaces to confront and communicate difficult, honest feelings in hopes of better understanding ourselves and each other. Spaces for necessary escapism and unapologetic catharsis. Spaces to feel together, even when we’re apart.
Our goal is to raise $5,000. Proceeds from this release will be going to our hometown heroes at Kamora’s Cultural Corner and their effort to create Brave Spaces within Hartford's marginalized communities, as well as to the Loveland Foundation’s Therapy Fund for Black Women and Girls, the National Queer and Trans Therapists of Color Network, and between the contributing artists. We believe no one should be deprived of receiving help based on their financial status... more
