1: Gleefully smile seconds into the track
2. Play air drums (uncontrollably)
3. I turn it up.
4. Close my head like a mental patient, swaying and feeling the nuances of sound
5. Exclaim, "YES" aloud.
6. I feel sad when it ends
On "Days Of Honey" 5 of those things happened and the only reason number 5 didn't is because I didn't want to cause a commotion (wife alseep). Bizou keeps things moving. The bass, dense synths and every shifting drumming, so tightly wound as if tied together with bailing wire, the vocal wash / aesthetic is lush and sits perfectly in the mix as opposed to fighting with it, the drone of layering create a heavy futuristic vibe and the lead and overall guitar sound is sonically so exquisitely dreamy and beautiful, sort of 90's Goth pop-esque (LOVE IT). Thankfully the song breathes, ebbs and flows while remaining powerful in its hybrid post punk way. Digging this.
"Days of Honey" is off of Bizou's debut full length, "Tragic Lover" Out 6/04 (on my birthday, happy birthday to me)
The Official Video is directed by Thomas Nelson, Brandon Pierce & BIZOU.
