It is well known that San Francisco's Pardoner have been open about their love of Fidlar which is cool but listen to "Totally Evil System" from the band's debut full length "Came Down Different" and one thing is clear. In comparison, Fidlar, sounds like a pop punk outfit. "Totally Evil System" like the other 11 tracks on the album is an insidiously heavy punk track like a crushing amalgam of The Stooges, The Oh Sees, The Dead Kennedys, Nirvana, Idles and Gang Of Four. You don't feel the drunken art school skater punk of Fidlar or Together Pangea. It feels much more defiant than that, and (as much as I like F_ and T_P_) that is ultimately a good thing.
Pardoner is Max Freeland (vocals, guitar), Trey Flanigan (vocals, guitar), River van den Berghe (drums) with the addition of their old friend Colin Burris (bass) to record their third full length "Came Down Different" and their debut on Bar/None Records.
