"make sure we do really hit the spot... just watch me now"
Astral Gray sort of sounds like the name of a 60's British secret agent in pulp novels or brightly colored Cinemascope movies, "Astral Gray at your service (secretly)", but no, Astral Gray is the musical project of Brighton, UK musician Graham Anthony Nunn born out of bedroom pop songs that stepped out of the bedroom to become much more. The swing and sway, breath and scope of "Hit the Spot" like other Nunn compositions are steeped in this lovely British folk indie rock pool with 70's tones, undefinable tones and senses that make me think of iconic British artists like Donavan, the Beatles and T-Rex pushed through contemporary indie rock filters, (Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Elliot Smith come to mind).
"Hit the Spot" is from Astral Gray's upcoming summer album release "La Dee Dah". Get lost in Astral Gray's acoustic 70's mythology and mysticism.

What started as the bedroom-based endeavour of Brighton musician Graham Anthony Nunn, Astral Gray has swiftly become a fully-fledged project in its own right. Through Making Bedroom/indie rock/pop promoting mysticism and an uplifting sound after the struggle we've all had through 2020.
'Lah Dee Dah' the forthcoming album later this summer contains enough hook-power to give Abba a run for their money. With harmonies quivering over stripped back acoustic guitar, bass and drums, emotion oozes from the pores. There are moments when 'La Dee Dah' feels like a forgotten treasure trove of seventies psychedelia, but for the most part Nunn plays a crazed alchemist; taking cues from the past and melding it in his own original image. Composed last summer during lockdown, the album reflects themes of isolation and longing yet a pervasive optimism and faith for the future.
