Julianna Joy's reflective "Spirits" has an easy pop sway, it swings broadly crossing genres multiple times and erupts into big pop ascensions landing on it's feet and feeling heavy but moving easy and steady. There is a maturity to the angles and stance as it moves on a nicely planted beat and Joy's vocal aesthetic is incredibly measured, beautifully rendered and placed with in the mix in a pop forward way but going off on bounces too, "bury the hatchet and leave it, like I could carry the weight of your secrets, I'll fall out of being your weakness again...", cutting a nice groove before the pop eruptions and ending that surprised me.
"Spirits" was written by Joy with Mags Duval and Juan Ariza, who also produced.
