Swiss singer songwriter, musician and creative dreamer Luna Oku pushes evocative buttons. On "Sleep Well", you have no time to acclimate yourself to Oku's aesthetic as the song seems to start in mid stride. Instantly you are pulled into flowing bass lines, dreamy synths and guitar ascensions and Oku's most intimate instrument, his voice. The wanderlust journey has bass / beat percolations and wonderful fall aways when the beat stops and you float on bare instrumentation and Oku's vocal melodies moving smoothly from middle tones to high falsettos. At one point, when everything expands and erupts, Oku's self harmonies feel utterly sublime. Other surprising transitions lift you up and sometimes sideways as the sounds shift from dense puzzle pieces to minimalistic frames as Oku's vocals penetrate even more darkly tender. I love the intimate approach. There is the feeling of indie rock and post punk plunges feeling progressive but simple too, if that makes any sense at all.
