New York's melodramatic rockers Strange Neighbors have a flair for romance, dark and light, heavenly and blisteringly torn. On "Mystic Piers" they manifest this inclination with spicy 60's surf guitars, choppy drum beats, punchy samba-esque bass lines and Aidan's dreamy vox that are part wide eyed sweetness and part boldly lustful. As wonderfully proto punkish this is (it feels like a 1978 homage to 60's surf rock) I am taken aback at the vast and gorgeous bridge that feels so (again) romantic and cinemascopic.
