I don't know what makes a piece of art classic or just nostalgic or if the two senses, feelings naturally intersect but the indie rocker "How Long?" by Hamilton, Ontario based Tripper and the Wild Things feels both to me. It has such a punchy but uplifting feeling that (for me) mines the best aspects of 90's indie rock specifically. I don't feel touches of post punk and I only bring that up because "How Long?" with it's blend of romance, anthemic angst and pure passion feels very much like Americana rock (if that makes any sense). With it's tom tom beats, sliding rhythms, and punchy downbeats framing wailing vox and hooky guitar lines, it feels like a song that might of secretly graced a dozen teen themed movies.
Of the song, the band shares:
"How Long?" reflects our fork in the road outlook on where we were at in terms of life, careers, ect. Examining that point in your life where you are unsure of the future or where you are headed and the kind of fear that this could be it.
