"Nothing wraps itself around me / Always takes more than I could give"
Israeli singer-songwriter / multi-instrumentalist, Adar Alfandari, recently released his debut album "Gold Dust" and, while only 25, the songs are distilled over many years really. His first band was at only 13 years old that he formed with his brother and over time evolved into a local Hebrew Alt-Rock group- “Dor Hamabul” who gigged all over Israel and release music and a debut album as well. Suffice it to say, this is not Alfandari's first rodeo but maybe a more personal one as a solo artist.
"Gold Dust" features 14 tracks of various styles, including two instrumentals and a number of songs in Hebrew as well. There are intimate affairs featuring Alfandari's exquisite acoustic guitar playing, his evocative voice and sparse other instrumentation like the rustic road worn "How I'm Gonna Make You Mine" or the haunting sort of graveyard song "3 Feet Underground" or the sideways dreamscape of "The Security Alarm" that work so well in their beautiful simplicity. Their are more alternative rock tones like "Pay Day" and "Someone to Anyone". אקדח פיקות (in Hebrew) has a big sound, a mixture of heavy blues rock and dark country and טירה מקש (in Hebrew) has dashes of dream folk and psychedelic dust.
The true purpose of this post, though, is the dreamy and somber, "My Blizzard". It is one of the 'band' songs on the album. It is utterly beautiful and so well produced. You never get the sense that any one element is over done. Alfandari's poetic lyrics and his ability to ascend to these truly moving falsettos works so well in this song. The funny thing is that while you get such a tansportive sense of beauty, enhanced by Alfandari's tender guitar work and Nadav Hollander's pristine piano and added synths throughout much of this song as the melancholia is floating in your mind, the ever shifting drum work by Almog Lizmi and Idan Katz bass lines (while mellow during the verses) are absolutely, utterly jamming during the chorus. Their heavy tightly wound rhythms are truly masterful, elevating the emotional weight while not stepping over the dreaminess, the tenderness. I absolutely love this. All the musicians here as well as the musical production and mix by Katz (Mastered by Aran Lavi) is spot on and amazing.

25 y/o Singer-Songwriter/producer from Israel.
I started my musical way at a very young age, and when I was 13 I formed a band together with my brother, that later evolved to our local Hebrew Alt-Rock group- “Dor Hamabul” with whom I released a debut album, gigged all around Israel, received thousands of views and streams for our songs, local radio features, and even attended season 5 of “The Voice Israel”.
I finally decided to start my solo career and released two self-produced songs that eventually lead me to "Idan Katz" my album's producer.
And after around two years of hard work and 5 singles releases, I finally released my debut album "Gold Dust".
The album includes songs I wrote a while ago, together with ones I wrote recently.
It is very versatile and includes songs in different styles, genres, and productions, two instrumental interludes and several songs in Hebrew.
And along with its versatility, there are a few things that seem to connect, and to be present in all of the songs in the album, and that’s my way of writing lyrics, my sometimes catchy yet unexpected melodies, and the presence of my guitar lines and natural-sounding voice.
"Gold Dust" is Available now on all streaming platforms!
