"To know you is such a beautiful thing / To show you every things free in the wind..."
In the current virulent world of identity politics and black and white thinking L.A. based Fime's powerful dreamscape "Born 2 Love" as a hazy fog of sound to get lost in, or just a statement, something to remind yourself, seems particularly needed. Love the driving guitars, the big dreamy drum explosions, synth heaviness creating big bottoms and ethereal highs and Maxine Garcia's truly beautiful vocal aesthetic. There is a surreal beauty in the sound and the warmth of late 80's nostalgia.
Fime was birthed around Bay Area transplants Beto Brakmo and Maxine Garcia along with drummer/synthesist Eric Promani and former Jerome’s Dream/Sea Wolf guitarist Scott Leahy. The evocative accompanying Official Video was created by Beto Brakmo using Ektacrome super 8 Film/ Kodak gold 35mm. The footage was all captured though out Japan, Indonesia and parts of New Mexico and Texas.

After a year of uncertainty and retreating into memories as an act of survival, the Los Angeles trio Fime is both embracing and shoving nostalgia. Formed around Bay Area transplants Beto Brakmo and Maxine Garcia along with drummer/synthesist Eric Promani and former Jerome’s Dream/Sea Wolf guitarist Scott Leahy, Fime made the unavoidable mistake of many bands in 2019 by expecting a very different year out of 2020. Along with a loaded schedule as touring members of Jay Som, Fime were set to embark on their first European run and appear at festivals they’d always dreamt of playing when the world began to shut down.
After some mourning back home, the band set up camp with Melina Duterte to flesh out a new collection of songs, their most direct and sprawling to date. “Born 2 Love” was made during these early days, and was a direct reaction to the introspection of their earlier work. “We just wanted to make a sweet love song”, explains the band, and it’s reflected in the song's wide eyed sheen, a glorious wash of decadent guitar tones and lush harmonies.
The new single is their first of the year, and comes on the heels of their performance for Bachelor’s Doomin’ Sun Fest. It’s the first preview of the newly evolved Fime, who’s 2019 EP Sprawl made them a name to watch. Stay tuned for more from the rising group.
