"I'm so sick of 'I'm sorry's' leaving my mouth..."
The bedroom pop sweetness of "Twizzlers" by Dutch-Indonesian artist VVARD was appropriately crafted along with her upcoming EP, "I'm So Tired", in her and producer Sascha Meijer's bedrooms during the height of the pandemic. Floating on doo wop punk vibes, and candy pop tones (pun intended), VVARD (the moniker of Verena Ward ) reaches for the somber and sweet stuff of bruised hearts born out of youthful crushes and beyond.
[A visible member of the LGBTQ+ community, VVARD is an outspoken advocate in the Netherlands and describes her sound as “experimental dreamy indie pop.” Her songs are about love and heartbreak as well as her constant battle with mental health.]
