"I've got more to give but I'm afraid to try..."
Pop, the term is a big multicolored wide umbrella and The Shadowboxers' unabashedly lush, romantic, vast sound hinges on delicious moving three piece harmonies pushed by dreamy soundscapes that trade the electronic pop tropes of the day for what feels more like pure 80's / 90's soul pop sounds. Take for example their latest shiny but torn "Breaking Habits". There are aspects of the swelling chorus that, in other hands, might feel boy band-esque but instead of walking in those choreographed shoes, Scott Tyler, Matt Lipkins and Adam Hoffman artfully fall down a plasticine rabbit hole. The song starts out with beautifully sad synth arpeggios that stair step down and up. When the dense three piece harmonies flood in the feeling is both surreal and glacially melancholy. It is like the scene in Tim Burton's Edward Scissorhands when pristine snow flakes fall in slow motion. Even when the boys' sound shifts into more of a R&B indie groove the production doesn't stay their long because the exquisite tactile sonic lushness with chorales of ooh and aahs swimming in the background is the song's heart and power.
"Breaking Habits" is the follow up to this year's "The Slow March Of Time Flies By (DELUXE)" a deeper fuller dive into 2020's "The Slow March Of Time Flies By", a pivotal work for The Shadowboxers.
“We’ve spent a decade in search of our identity, meandering our way through different styles and genres in hopes of landing on something that all three of us can see ourselves in. This is the album where we found it. We locked ourselves in the studio and didn’t come out until all three of us felt like we’d communicated our visions and seen them through. Just us. No one else. No one to hide behind or pass the ball to. We fought, we compromised, we faced issues that had been building up for a decade. And we came out on the other side with 'The Slow March of Time Flies By', our most honest work to date.”

Notable Upcoming Shows: Headlining shows at Basement East (1/7/22 - NASH) and Terminal West (1/15/22 - ATL).

From their start as a backing band for the Indigo Girls to most recently working and touring alongside mentor Justin Timberlake, the trio of Scott Tyler, Matt Lipkins and Adam Hoffman have continuously captivated audiences across the globe with their distinctive flair. Bridging the gap between classic, harmony-driven melodies and contemporary pop-R&B rhythms, TSB now take the reins as songwriters and producers. A pivotal point in a long series of serendipitous moments for the group, TSB have finally settled into their own, their new music representative of the trio’s newfound clarity.
"The falsettos soar, the melody bounces with joyous yearning and the whole package feels familiar, like a song you’ve forgotten but are happy to rediscover." - Time
"After a decade of taking on different stages, from opening on folk-rock duo Indigo Girls' live jaunt to Justin Timberlake's Man of the Woods Tour, The Shadowboxers are no longer straddling the different sounds that have impacted their decade-spanning career." - Billboard
"The Shadowboxers Are Ready, and Not Just Because of Justin Timberlake" - Playboy
