"I wanna' feel your teeth under your lips show me your scars I want to be a stitch...."
Sea Girls' latest indie rocker "DNA" might be about obsession or maybe something else. Riding on big synth waves, a very cool bass line that runs up and down the neck, a potent drum beat with shifty high hat embellishments, jangle guitar breaks and Henry Camamile's dreamy, passionate artful vocal aesthetic that has hints of glam glitter theatricality draws you in. The guitar breaks, get funky in spots in a post dance punk sort of way. Some of the chord shapes and construction made me think of 80's new wave British tones of Duran Duran or ABC or Roxy Music or, better yet, an amalgam of all of them.
The Official Video for "DNA" shot in one take against the backdrop of the Swiss mountains shows Henry wax poetic while traipsing through the orange soaked Lucerne terrain. He shares:
“We felt that there was another story to tell from the Homesick era, an itch that DNA scratches. This track is a monumental celebration of being strange. It ponders belonging and identity. DNA celebrates people who don’t fit in. You are who you are and that’s why people love you”
On the video, he continues; “We shot it in just one take whilst travelling between shows on our latest European tour. Our tour bus was heading over the mountains between Germany and Switzerland, and it just all made sense - we had to film there. I think we managed to stumble upon one of the most beautiful locations on earth!”
