Sprouting from Los Angeles based supergloom's current eponymous EP, the dreamy track "Waiting for the Day" has a floating narrative that offers embraces, inspirations and provokes hard stares in the morning. If I were to put my guru hat on I would even say that if one were to use this track as a daily affirmation that you would be healthier in the long run. Not because it has rose colored glasses on. No, there is a patina of melancholy but there is a musical and lyrical push that injects strains of hope and gentle support into your veins. The tones whether the belly Fender Rhodes-esque keys or the progressive shapes, unbridled surprising drumming and collapsing beats that might make you feel a bit drunk, or the beautiful sort of gospel pitched harmonies or the lovely straight to the blinding sun ascensions give you the sense that this song is about transformation and that whatever kind of transformation is around the corner that is is never too late to do so.
And I can tell you that it never is too late even though it feels like it is.
I haven't dove into the "supergloom" EP, trying to find the time but I hope that you do because I have the feeling that it will be a rewarding experience. supergloom is a band that is not all that easy to describe in a precise way and for some reason the three words "progressive bedroom pop" flash in neon in my brain. It is not a perfect descriptor but their personal sense, their tenderness seems to scream bedroom pop (even though they might feel exquisitely more like proggy post rock) and their dense musical nature feels progressive. There you go.

From deep inside LA’s local music scene emerges supergloom, a new 4-piece collective of independently accomplished musicians. In keeping with their pop sensibilities, the band produces experimental songs that are both catchy and challenging. Think Deerhunter meets Radiohead and invites their friends Grizzly Bear and Pink Floyd.
** At this particular time we find ourselves in a financial pinch due to many factors. We want to keep AP going. It has been a passion project for over 13 years. PLEASE consider donating, we could really use the support. Thanks so much
