"I want to look in the mirror with a sense of pride instead I see reflected a life of crime..."
The specks of religious iconography in the Official Super 8 Video for London based Vincent Christ's evocative "When Can I Be Good" (as written, performed and produced by Vincent Christ, filmed by Patrick Lyons, edited by Rocio Escámez) feels wonderful in it's lo-fi, diy-esque look and sound. The machine beat, new wave, post punkian melancholia asks questions that can be taken straight on be metaphorical.
I wondered, in fact, if Vincent Christ had died for our sins and been resurrected. I realized that at this precise moment of discovery (of this lavish and organic artist) that this song and video is infinitely perfect. I also realized that maybe it will not feel like that tomorrow but that does not fucking matter. The infinite connection when it happens is (for me) metaphysically cut in space and time and will always exist. Wow, mind blown (this is not what you think).
"When Can I Be Good?" is part of an album in embryo that you can pre-order. Songs will be added to Vincent Christ's Bandcamp page and the entire album, "Kil St. Clare" will drop in August.

Combining an individualistic visual style with urgent and immediate songs, London-based artist Vincent Christ is gaining notoriety for feeling-first, irreverent songs informed by new wave, art-rock and post-punk. Although originally involved in hip-hop production, Vincent gravitated to working with instruments and playing, arranging and recording everything himself, developing his sharp and shimmering guitar tones. Vincent, who is believed to have a different birth name, explores themes of speed, change and disillusionment. Hailed the 'saviour of the sax solo' by post-punk.com, he introduced himself in 2022, offering thoughtful, upbeat records to the UK punk scene.
