"breaking my heart in that same black dress..."
The title track of Hamilton, Ontario's Burn The Louvre's debut album "Silhouettes" feels like a two way mirror. A collision of busker folk punk, vast timeless gothic rock storytelling with glitter thrown on it, it feels like a parable handed down through the ages and a cheeky inside joke all at once. I am digging guitarist, singer Jordan Speare's vocal aesthetic. A smile inducing tight rope walk of passion and play. The performance burns from a personal experience.
Of the song he shares:
"I am a huge fan of The Last Shadow Puppets, so they inspired the mood and the music. I had the chord progression with all the little hammer-ons for "Silhouettes" figured out a few months prior to me and my first girlfriend breaking up back when I was 24," recalls Speare, "and then when it finally happened, I wrote the lyrics to this and finished the whole song in a matter of days. It was actually extremely therapeutic to organize my thoughts like that, I didn't really even have to go back and edit this one much, my 1st draft was almost spot-on," he smiled before adding, "feel free to insert some cliché here about speaking from the heart."
"Silhouettes" is the kind of song that you want to play as much as listen to. I am digging it.

Burn The Louvre is an indie duo based out of Hamilton, ON comprised of Jordan Speare (vocals/guitar) and Sean Cooper (guitar/vocals). Their debut LP Silhouettes was recorded, mixed & mastered by engineer/producer Mickey Ellsworth and is slated for release across 2022.
Speare started working on Silhouettes years before he met Cooper. Recording as a “solo artist” for the first time ever, he enlisted the help of friend Andrew Billone of Silvertone Hills to play lead guitar & bass on all 11 tracks on the LP. He also invited friend & fellow singer/songwriter Stephanie Deshane to sing with him on “Alison”, a fun duet with a charming back & forth.
After Jordan & Mickey wrapped up the recording of Silhouettes late 2018, he received an email from guitarist Sean Cooper. He was answering a “Musicians Wanted” Kijiji ad that Jordan had forgotten to take down.
“The fact that he even showed up for that beer was enough to impress me. We hit it off and the next week, we got together to jam & he impressed me a whole lot more. The way he came up with his own unique leads to songs that were already recorded, giving them different nuances while maintaining the vibe of each song...I felt this was a perfect opportunity to re-imagine Burn The Louvre as a duo and I am very happy he wanted to be a part of this,” said Speare on his friendship with guitarist Sean Cooper.
