There is no need really to decipher, to define, to analyze Widows Gold's latest song "Never Had You at All" that just BuzzBands LA just premiered on 88.5FM The SoCal Sound because it is the kind of song that steps over genres in an all encompassing way. The Costa Mesa, California band centered around the songwriting husband / wife duo of Ben Sauer (guitar) and Madeline Star (vox) crafts indie rock painted not only 80's toned power pop but to my ears sprinkles in 70's garden rock flavors as well and other subtle shades of bedroom pop. All these sonic flavors brought to the forefront by Star's potent (POTENT) vocal aesthetic. She has the kind of voice that is able to carry all those blended genres and coalesce the emotional context straight into your heart and make you feel something.
