"get out of my head / we are obsessed with what we havent quite grasped yet/ the second coming of the old ecclesiastic/ am I'm fine with my brain slows / and prey for the second wave of godlike genius"
Against numbing distortions, pounding drums like pounding in your brain, "Do You Want Me To Come In Your Feed?" by A Door, the ostensibly solo project (with some collaborators) by former Manhattan Love Suicides drummer Rachel Barker, is a compelling, artful exercise in post punk and noisy contemplation. I love the heavy metal grunge graced chord progressions, love the sound of A Door's vox, that sound as once saturated in despondent fury but totally in survivor mode. The sonic expressions here make me think about how the world is a hard, difficult place to exist in. Once you step out of youthful inspired naivety you fully know you are being played by immoral corporations and it can grind you down are not strong enough. Rachel's inspirations, electronic and science fiction seeds are many and interesting and relevant. One key point centered around how we are all addicted like lab rats and caught everyday like numb fish 'they' reel in. Rachel's description is more interesting than I could ever make it.
Interesting Liner notes about "Do You Want Me To Come In Your Feed?"
[It was mixed by Elliot from Ringo Deathstarr.
It was written about the Cambridge Analytica scandal, and the Terminator films. its about how boring the machines (algorithms) taking over is compared to what was promised by the 80’s sci-fi.
It also mentions the film beyond the black rainbow.
‘Feed’ being the social media feed, and gluttony/narcissism.
It began as a play on the word morphine /more-feed, and the reference to ‘the old ecclesiastics’ is about the Marx quote that religion is the opium of the masses, social control through addiction.
This is released on Deteriation Decorators Ltd, an arts and music lable with the over riding them of deterioration.]

ABOUT Rachel (A Door)
Rachel (A Door) has a hole in her spinal cord which affects her guitar playing. During the pandemic she turn to visual art work and make automatic expressionist figure work which she believes is her body attempting to correct her proprioception and spinal alignment.
Her music sounds like her paintings look ; chaotic, dark, distorted and ethereal, with an overall sense of loss.
Now releasing music recorded prior to, and during, the pandemic under the name A Door, with plans to hopefully tour in 2024.

"Do You Want Me To Come In Your Feed?" is a powerful piece of work, feels timeless, feels darkly mysterious, feels like a sonic exorcism, feels like survivorship.
