"it's the strangest thing / to've come so gradually / and there's a friend whose name I'm in / been a long time coming..."
The emotional wear with all and the sophisticated sadness of "it takes a long time to feel free" by la loye, the very personal project of 24-year-old Dutch artist, singer-songwriter Lieke Heusinkveld, blossoms in the loveliest of ways. Rolling on a fractured drum beat, swelling orchestrations of sound, and tactile acoustic guitar strums, Lieke's vocal countenance, poised melancholia and emotional survivalism, part stoic and part raw emotions is felt throughout. Expressed in solid ways with truly talented musicians as collaborators, the track pushes and tussles but also dances and embraces. It feels so beautifully balanced and true to it's essence but then a polished heart still bleeds.
"it takes a long time to feel free" is the second single from la loye's debut record "sweet dreams, see you tomorrow" set to drop in October of this year (2024).
