"She told me I was funny once / At some karaoke bar / I've been for months / I hate karaoke / people sing out of key / and disposable cameras / pictures I'll never see..."
The smile inducing power pop indie slaps and chunky garage rock tickles of "Weather Or Not" by Canada's AHRF with inviting rolls and crowd surfing moments is the perfect track for dancing with a beer in hand and not spilling one drop (ok maybe a gulp or two). With nimble, hooky rock breaks and an evocative vocal presence I am feeling an amalgam of bands like Pixies, Ween, Marcy Playground, Pkew Pkew Pkew and others that, like AHRF, craft songs that feel perfect for the perfect house parties.
I asked her what she drinks as she heads for the door
Now I'm drinking to myself I'll just have one more
New Orleans Is Sinking
Man I feel like drowning too
I'm a part of the ship
I'm going down with the crew"
LINER NOTES
"Weather or Not" is AHRF’s newest song since their debut album "Extracurricular". "Weather or Not" is a nihilistic narration of a karaoke date experience. True to their Canadian roots, many references to the greatest Canadian band are made. Attempts at lyrical humour are made and the guitars are too loud; AHRF is extremely excited to share what’s been happening in their world.
This verse sticks in my head:
"The pressure drops and the air becomes thin
I can feel it in my lungs I think they're caving in
I am psychotic motives exotic
I've been searching for religion but I don't know who my god is"
I can feel it in my lungs I think they're caving in
I am psychotic motives exotic
I've been searching for religion but I don't know who my god is"
AS does the chorus:
"Weather or not
Decay until rot
My eardrums are busted and my liver is rusted my knees are not to be trusted and my head needs adjustment
"Weather or not
Decay until rot
My eardrums are busted and my liver is rusted my knees are not to be trusted and my head needs adjustment
Weather or not
Decay until rot"
Decay until rot"
