"when you sing to me it helps me sleep..."
The airy, tightly wound, dream theater of "Colorful Wishes", the debut release by Colorado's The Bright Collide, casts all pretense aside and simply delivers emotionally wrought indie rock that feels seeded by 80's new wave / indie rock, 90's post punk and more. Listening I couldn't help but think of iconic artists like R.E.M or The Plimsouls or The Replacements. The mix of jangly and heavy guitar distortions coupled with an evocative vocal countenance appeals to my sense of music that hits hard but has sophisticated emotional connective tissue as well. Feels like the best of 90's college radio and I love that.
