"I always ran / even when you loved me / it's all over now / but neither us are free..."
The funk slams and cross generational R&B psych rock indie fusions of "Tell Me All Your Secrets Pt. 2", by Nova Scotia Canada's hybrid psych duo Strange Plants (and collaborators), feel like an atom smashed funk grindhouse indie flick. There is a lot going on, from 70's Parliament inspired SP funk, maybe 70's psychedelic rock with jazz funk undercurrents (Alan Parsons Project - "I Wouldn't Want to be Like You" comes to mind), Prince and even Har Mar Superstar, Weaves, The Rapture. This is so cross pollinated (brilliantly I might add) that the multi-colored glitter splatter and wonderfully gritty, gut busting vocal performance will thrill anyone into James Brown, Roxy Music and Bowie's funk appropriated "plastic soul" era.

Fuck it... or maybe funk it! There is no way or need to analyze what Strange Plants is laying down, just revel in it, often.
