The beautiful rolling indie folk rock wheel of "Braiding" by Bay Area's Bad Tiger, the musical project of singer-songwriter Yasi Lowy and her musical cohorts, has a wonderfully vast groove and dreamy ruminations about love and loss and two spiritual beings becoming one, I think, I guess but only Lowy knows the seeds of this lovely song. I can only speak about the blossoming sounds. It's funny but something about this track, at least musically, feels a bit like "I've Got A Feeling" by the Beatles, that is if it was more folk inclined. Maybe what I am hearing is the kind of homespun, semi porch blues inclinations, not sure, but there is some connection, at least in my mind, that makes me smile.
Lowy's vocal melodies are outrageously different compared to most songs as she extends words in such a way that at some pivoting point her singing becomes non lexicon in nature. I absolutely adore what she is accomplishing here and how this different style accents the poetry and personal storytelling that to us outsiders has so much written between the lines, so much for us to interpret.
