The memoric wash, the decay, renewal of "Day To Day", by alternative artist, singer‑songwriter, and producer Brent de la Cruz, feels like one of those trippy mirrors that reflect you a seemingly infinite amount of times. Hypnotic pulsating sounds, swelling drones, beats that become pounding doors and guitar breaks that make me feel like lost days of youth kicking it with those friends that are finding their way just like you are. BDLC crafts a sonic / emotional universe that (to me) taps into the early aughts, a decade that was sorting itself out and I can feel ghosts of grunge, psych rock, electronic music, indie pop, hip hop and skater punk all swinging away in a mosh pit. It is a heady, ultra youthful sound, cultures embracing and pushing alternative iterations of sound. BDLC's vocal countenance, vulnerable, thoughtful and cooler that one should be Church runs smoothly, potently on all cylinders.
Raised in California, Brent honed his DIY creative process through skate-park memories and a hands-on approach to everything from production to visuals. As a multifaceted creator, he directs visuals, edits videos, and designs every element of his craft.
“Day To Day” showcases a new level of clarity and confidence from the 27-year-old artist, who’s quickly cementing his place as one of alt music’s most promising new voices. With early support from Apple Music and Spotify, including spots on New Music Friday, All New Indie, Lorem, and more, Brent’s rise is just getting started.]
Sun burn brighter by the day
Stood the test time but here I lay
Poppin all these pills to break off
Come and feed me menthol no rush though
Its probably better that we wait
Wait till sun down and its a rental
Slide out on the devil when I spray
Yeah this just my day to day"
I’m not gone but almost
I’m not gone but almost
He said come my way my golden child Imma
Show you around this place that I call home
Comforting nonsense
Pushing in a mosh pot
listening to words
of a voiceless child
Jumping out the window
hoping that the wind won’t
Pull me to the stars
Just to set me back down
Im falling deeper in the sunken place
Appalled that my words spell out in lower case
And I hate
How they prey on me in my worst state
Yeah this just my day to day
I’m in the shadow with the ghosts
Where stray dawgs don’t go
I’m not gone but almost
I’m not gone but almost
(Post Chorus 2)
He said come my way my golden child Imma
Show you around this place that I call home
I’m in the shadow with the ghosts
Where stray dawgs don’t go
I’m not gone but almost
I’m not gone but almost
(Post Chorus 3)
He said come my way my golden child Imma
Show you around this place that I call home"

Brent de la Cruz is an American artist/ producer/ songwriter from San Diego, California. With his first independent, self-produced/engineered singles in 2019, he would be featured on Spotify editorial playlists such as Lorem, Anti-Pop, Fresh Finds, ‘Fit Check, Crush, etc. helping him garner the millions of streams he has today - all without a single paid advertisement, music video, or even a team for that matter.
After garnishing some attention from within the industry, he seemingly went M.I.A. taking a hiatus for several years to hone-in on his craft, fine-tuning and embellishing his sound. Skateboarding having been a major role in his upbringing, he derives many of his sonic choices from the genres he grew up listening.
With influences ranging from MGMT, to The Beatles, to Frank Ocean, and the everlasting sounds Motown has gifted, he appreciates the lore of timeless music, and attempts to encapsulate the sense of originality they bring to the table; translating this into his own work. Recently moving to Los Angeles, for the first time in 5 years, he’s opening doors to collaborators both for his own artist project, as well as producing and songwriting for others.
